Muscles of forearm


Superficial compartment:

Medial to lateral:

  1. Flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU)
  2. Flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS)
  3. Palmaris longus (PL)
  4. Flexor carpi radialis (FCR)
  5. Pronator teres (PT).


Intermediate compartment:

Medial to lateral:

  1. Flexor digitorum profundus (FDP)
  2. Flexor pollicis longus (FPL).


Deep compartment:

  • Pronator quadratus (PQ).

Nerve supply:

  1. Superficial compartment:
    • FCU: Ulnar nerve
    • Rest 4 muscles: Median nerve.
  2. Intermediate compartment:
    • Medial half of FDP: Ulnar nerve
    • Lateral half of FDP & FPL: Anterior interosseus nerve.
  3. Deep compartment:
    • PQ: Anterior interosseus nerve (deep branch of Median nerve).
